Nigerian International Athletes Assosciation Conference

The Nigerian International Athletes Association just concluded its 8th annual conference in Los Angeles California and to say the least, it was a blast. In attendance were track and field legends Modupe Oshikoya, Peter Okodogbe, Charlton Ehizuelen, Chidi Imoh, Ajayi Agbebaku, Sunday Uti, NFL all Pro and Nigerian nightmare Christian Okoye, gymnastics legend David Kadiri, etc. Dignitaries from Track & Field, Table tennis, Badminton, Gymnastics, basketball, American football, etc graced the occasion.

While it was a very festive atmosphere, the organization tackled a bunch of serious issues. New officials were elected at the the conference with Harrison Salami elected as the new president of the association. He will be taking over from Dr. Bruce Ijirigho whose impeccable leadership since inception has contributed immensely to the success of NIAA. Among some of the election highlights were Chidi Imoh elected as VP, Dr. Chikpe Okeke anointed as Secretary, Hope Waobikeze elected as Tresurer, Rita Didikiri ended us as Financial Secretary, Paul Emordi is now the new PRO and David Kadiri will take over as parliamentarian. The association also promised to work on making sure that Nigeria is well represented in all international events by helping out with resources, accountability, scholarships, promotions, etc.

The NIAA is an association of former and present Nigerian sportsmen and women catering to all sports with the exorbitant mission of fostering and improving Nigerian sports.

Members are former and current world-class sportsmen and women who have united for the purpose of giving back to the Community. NIAA's mission is to provide needy and disadvantaged youths with the resources and support to achieve their God given potential in Education and Sports while bringing honor and glory to their Community. To identify talented youths at the grassroots level and prepare them to succeed as Student/Athletes as well as productive members of society. To foster goodwill and comradeship through an exchange program among the youths of Nigeria and the United States, thereby creating a bridge which links the youths of both Nations to the rest of the World. In furtherance of this mission, NIAA has established a scholarship program for developing promising Student/Athletes with the objective that today's youths are the leaders of tomorrow."
